Right up until the day before the “100 day project 2020” started I was unsure if I was going to take part. Last years was fun, but it took a lot of organising. I had no plans for this year, and my mojo had deserted me. I considered ignoring the project, pretending to myself that I didn’t realise it had started, oh, is it that time of year already? dagnammit, I missed it!
However I knew that I would probably regret not starting it further down the line. So at the last minute I decided to go for it and looked around for something I could do that didn’t take much planning. I found a piece of fabric that I had printed with a photo of some of my mixed media work.
What can I do with this for 100 days, I pondered? I could divide it into 100 squares, they would measure 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ which is called a “betwinchie” (between 1 inch and 2 inches) which was tempting, if only for the name alone. However I felt like I had already done something similar, and I would end up with 100 small bits that would sit in a box until the end of time. Could I make something more useable, could I make something sellable, perhaps? Hmmm, I sell brooches, don’t I, how many brooches would I get out of that piece of fabric? 25, easily. If I spend 4 days on each one, that’s 4 days x 25 brooches = 100 days. Ta da!
Here are the 25 cut out circles ready to be embellished and embroidered .
I will list each of the 25 brooches for sale on my website when they are finished.

Today is day 50 of 100, I haven’t missed a day yet, although as always , I reserve the right to do so, my 100 days don’t need to be 100 consecutive days. Here are the 12 I’ve completed so far.
I have sold one and given 2 away, and these ones are available on my website
Read about the rest of my 100 Day Project here
As I suspected I am happy that I made the effort to start the project, it gave me a reason to get back into handstitching every day, I always feel better when I do a bit of that each night before bed.
Having revved up my handstitching mojo I spent a couple of unseasonably hot days in the garden doing this to a charity shop jacket.
I then spent a few rainy days doing this one..
Oops, just noticed I missed a bit, better go and sort that out!
Did I complete my 100 Day Project?
