EDITED TO ADD
I now have enough photos for my project, thank you to everyone who has contributed.

I have taken part in the 100 Day Project for the last few years, the first 2 years I took the easy route and just shared a photo of work I had done previously for 100 days on the trot. In 2019 I went to the opposite extreme and organised an epic project that spawned 9 blog posts, which you can read here . In 2020 I made 25 brooches , you can read about that here . The project usually starts on 1st of March, but because no-one gets out much nowadays this year it’s starting on 1st of February. EDITED TO ADD: oops, it actually starts on the 31st of January !
At the end of last year I had a notion to start collecting nice materials around me so I had a project at hand come the dark days ahead. I bought some lovely hand dyed silk threads from Steph’s Craft Bits , Steph very kindly winds them onto cards for me because I always seem to get myself in a right fankle with skeins.
I also bought some hand dyed silk ribbons from Hope Jacare Designs
My idea was to make some patchwork silk scarves and spend my evenings handstitching them with the lovely silk threads. I had a trial run with some silk charity shop silk scarves……
….. but I have decided today that I’m not going to use that idea for my 100 Day project. I’ll still do it, but in my own time, thank you very much, you’re not the boss of me, I said to….me.
So what will I do for my 100 days ? Well, I was in my workshop casting my eyes around for an idea , and assumed that idea would involve fabric, but then I noticed this, pinned to the wall..
It’s a blind contour drawing I did , you can read about it here
I also did this one..
… and that gave me an idea. I’m going to do a blind contour drawing every day for 100 days ( not neccesarily 100 consecutive days, but 100 days in total).
I’m going to do faces, and I’m going to need your help. I’m looking for photos of real people to draw.
My drawing might not resemble your photo, in fact it most probably won’t.
My drawing might not flatter you, in fact it most likely won’t.
You might not even recognise yourself in my drawing, I never said I was good at blind contour drawing, I just said I was going to give it a go!
I will be posting my drawings on Facebook, Instagram, and this blog. I will ask everyone who sends me a photo if they want their photo posted alongside my drawing, or if they want to remain anonymous. Either is fine.
So can you help me? Send me a photo of your face, with your face filling most of the photo, and tell me if you want me to share the photo, or not.
You can send me your photo
by email to fran@mcanaraks.com
you can message me on my Facebook page
or direct message me on Instagram
I’m looking forward to seeing your faces 🙂

Someone commented on my Facebook page that what I’m doing but is not technically blind contour drawing which involves covering the paper with a cloth and not lifting the pencil at all.
That’s probably correct, because what I do is look at the photo on the computer and draw it without looking at the paper, but I do lift the pencil, so it’s not continuous. In all honesty I probably do unintentionally sneak a peek , but I’m new to this technique, and maybe my confidence will grow as I work through the 100 days. Even if it doesn’t I’ll have fun trying.
