So soon, another phase of my 100 Day Project is completed. You can read about the previous ones here
I exchanged fabric with 9 other members of a Facebook group I belong to, and we are using each others pieces in our 100 Day Projects. The most recent piece I used came from Jacquie Chalmers. I really liked the pieces that Jacquie sent me, she created them using her embellishing machine (looks like a sewing machine but has no threads, instead it has barbed needles that mash the fibres together). I want one.
I made a collage with the pieces by adding some wallpaper and textured cardboard that I painted white. I neglected to get a photograph of it before I cut it into 9 2×2 inch squares. I had a piece of fancy silver card with swirls on it that change colour as they catch the light, I previously used them on this bunch of metal flowers that sits on my mantlepiece.
I glued one of the swirls to each square and added a few stitches, I didn’t want to add too much to Jacquie’s pieces and risk losing their charm.
I had fun making these, and also taking photos of them, trying to create different coloured swirls by moving them around and using torches. I probably spent as much time taking photos of them as I did creating them.
This is the 8 x 6 inch piece that I sent to Jacquie
and this is what she did with it, I love the crochet edges.
You can see more of Jacquie’s work on her Instagram and Facebook , as well as her 100 Day Project she does crochet and circle weaving, well worth a look.
Next up for my 2×2 inch pieces is fabric I received from Cynthia Temple. She very generously sent me a large envelope stuffed with interesting fabrics and some of her handpainted papers. I’m a bit overwhelmed by choice at the moment, I might have to close my eyes and choose some pieces randomly otherwise my head will explode.
Tune in for the next episode to find out if that happened, or not.
Chapter 6 is here
I love what you did with the pieces I sent you that I did with my needle felting sewing machine they turned out spectacular! And I enjoyed working on the piece you sent me,using some circle weaving, needle tatting, painted mailing envelope, candy wrapper, and shells I got from the beach when I visited England!
Thank you Fran for starting this group as I loved seeing your creations and what other people have created have been inspirations and have challenged me to expand my horizons!
Thank you Jacquie, I agree that doing the exchanges has provided great inspiration for the 100 Day Project, and perhaps beyond it !
