I heard today that the postcard I sent to Australia has arrived safely after 2 weeks, always a relief because sending them naked is a bit risky, especially ones like this with loose-ish stitching on them. The theme was “Into the Forest”

This is the card I received on the same theme..

I previously wrote about a collaboration I did with Monique , you can read about it here . We decided to do another one in which we both printed out this image, used it on a postcard , and mailed it to each other

Here’s what I did with it..

and here’s what Monique did….

However, she posted her card about three weeks ago from Germany to Scotland but it has not arrived yet. It might be the Christmas post or it may have gone astray, we shall see.

A few weeks ago I attended a mosaic workshop organised by our local art club. We used broken crockery, tiles, glass, and in my case, buttons, to decorate animal shapes. The tutor took our pieces away with her to grout and I got my piece back yesterday. I really enjoyed the workshop and I’m please with my owl, he will live in a tree in my garden.

There’s a feature on Instagram that shows your most popular 9 photos of the year, here are mine..

These were my top 9 from 2018…

Distinct lack of jackets in 2019’s selection which reflects the distinct lack of jackets I completed, I made fewer this year than in the last 30 years. Just lost my jacket mojo. Not neccesarily my sew-jo, just the jacket bit of it. I made lots of scarves, hundreds of brooches. But only a few jackets. They were nice jackets, but there were not many of them, not even enought to fill this photo grid, I had to double up on some of them.
We shall see what 2020 brings.

  1. Inspiring as always!!!!

    1. Thank you for reading it Sonja, I appreciate it 🙂

  2. I really enjoy reading your “diary”, and even if I don’t create the same kinds of art you do, I always seem to find something that sparks an idea for my own projects. I do make postcards, but have made it a point to use only fabric and threads. I have enough fabric “stuff” and really don’t want to add paper “stuff” to my growing hoard. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful creations!!!

    1. Thank you Jackie, that is very nice to hear. Yes, perhaps a burgeoning paper ephemera collection was not the best idea for a messy person like me, but too late now!

  3. Always interesting to read your blog

    1. Thanks Gilleoin, I appreciate you reading it 🙂
