Someone in a Facebook group said “Have you heard of “Mail Me Some Art” ?” and I had not, but I have now.
They have a blog
I signed up for it and have joined in my first swap which is on the theme of “Ascemic Writing” which I knew little about, but learnt from this blogpost
I prepared an A4 sheet of paper by stencilling with acrylic paints, leaving it to dry and then rubbing over it with different coloured inks.

I then cut it into 4 pieces and used different pens to add my ascemic writing. My first time doing it, and I think I was enjoying it too much, becasue I added to much, in my opinion. T’was fun, though!

I’ve posted them to the host of the swap in New York and she will distribute them amongst other participants. Eventually I will receive 4 cards from other people. I will , of course report back when that occurs.

Here’s a textile postcard I made for a swap on the theme of “Winter Landscape”

and here what I received on the same theme from Marijke Op Den Camp in the Netherlands, I love the shimmering water, and the sheep.

Excitement arrived with the postie today in the form of a cardboard box containing these..

They are 6 templates of cubes that are a collaborative textile art project I am taking part in. 7 people have already contributed to them, I am 8th and there are 4 more after me, 12 in total. There is also another set of 6 doing the rounds in another direction. When all 12 of us have contributed to both sets of 6 they will come back to me and I will form them into 3d cubes. Each of us will be allocated a cube in a random manner, and I will post them to each participant. I have 2 weeks to contribute some textile art to each piece and then post them to the next person. I’m looking forward to it, in fact I’m off to do some right now.

I had a go at one of the cube templates last night, I was listening to a podcast on headphones and I didn’t want to pause it and take them off to go and get supplies, so I used what was on hand. I drew some dots and lines with my Posca Paint pens, and then stitched on and around them. I was trying to be clever and make it so the design would match up when the templates are formed into 3D cubes, but I did it wrong. However, it made me realise that I will have a chance to do that when I am constructing the cubes, so no harm done.

I bought this giant tartan ricrac with the notion of using it on jackets, but I coudn’t resist trying it on a scarf first.

I used the trimmings from the scarf on this weeks Made on Monday, I am about to start stitching on it now. Here it is before stitching..

Finished now, there was a bit of an incident with paint pen, but if I don’t mention it I don’t think anyone will notice.

Speaking of Posca paint pens, I used them on this postcard for a Swapbot swap, the theme was “Doodle Bombed”.
I had to doodle over an exisiting image, first time I’d tried this, think I could do better with more planning next time. I should have taken a photo before I started doodling, but I didn’t.

Monday again, so quick. Last night when I had finished stitching I still had a bit of my podcast left, I picked up a white paint pen to keep myself busy until the end, because I find it difficult to just sit and listen, without doing anything with my hands.
The pen nib needs to be pumped up and down to get the paint flowing, and I stupidly did that on my 5×5 inch piece. A puddle of white paint spewed forth and made a big white blob. Ach well, I left it overnight to dry, and this morning I drew on it with my Posca paint pens to blend it in, and make it look deliberate.

So here is my Made on Monday 5×5 inch mixed media piece week 48.
That’s 48 out of 52 , so 4 more to go. After that I will decide whether to launch into another years worth. Maybe paper collage instead of textile/mixed media?
