In September last year I started a new collaborative project with 11 other members of a textile art group on Facebook. Most of them have taken part in previous collaborative projects but there were a couple of new people as well. I bought some felt covered polystyrene balls (10cm/4inch approx), which henceforth shall be referred to as spheres, to avoid any sniggering at the back. The spheres were divided into two sets which were posted to each participant at different times, and we all contributed some embellishment to all of them. Eventually they made their way back to me and I allocated a sphere to each participant using a random system involving postcodes in alphabetical order. This was a fun project, it was really interesting to see the spheres evolve. However they proved difficult to photograph because spheres being spheres, they kept rolling away. Here are step by step photos of set A, I will do a separate post for set B.

Ok, thanks for looking , I’ll be back with set B soon. part 2 is here
Really enjoyed doing these and seeing what inventive things other people used! Amazing to see them finished now. Thank you Fran! You do lovely challenges!
Great, I’m glad you enjoyed it, this was the most stressful one yet, with trying to identify the spheres so I could add them to the blog, but we got there in the end. Won’t be doing spheres again, though!
I really enjoyed participating in the decoration of these spheres. I found it quite challenging to keep up the standard which had been set. Made me think and experiment. Thank you Fran for organising, I look forward to taking part in the future
These are beautiful and interesting! I’ve participated in challenges that were similar in that different participants contributed to the doll, and pages of an art book. I have several felted spheres that I had not idea what to do with until now! So inspiring ❤️

Customised Jacket
"This afternoon a package arrived from Scotland. Inside this package I discover two of the most whimsical, most marvelous and colorful and unique jackets ever seen on this earth.
I've been looking closely at the jackets and I just can't get over the fabrics. Wouldn't I love to have 15 minutes unsupervised in your fabric stash!
Your photos did not begin to do them justice - each bit and scrap of fabric is marvelous , compounded by how you put them together. And my husband, and my son think they are quite
fantastic. Happy all around!"
